Freebooter is a ketch-rigged Salar 40, designed by Laurent Giles. Although branded a motor sailer because of her deckhouse, the Salar 40 was probably one of the first production boats that gave good performance under sail and power. She was also regarded by many as the definitive blue water cruiser of her generation.
Built in 1973, she has been loving cared for by a succession of proud owners. Her previous owner and now my good friend, Tim Patkin, loved her for 17 years and extensively upgraded her over the years.
